Domestic Air Traffic Grows By 14.35% In November

Due to the festive season rush, domestic air traffic registered 14.35% growth in November as against the corresponding period last year, as per official data released by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

According to the data, the number of air travellers during this time increased to 58.74 lakh as against 51.37 lakh passengers carried by the seven Indian airlines in 2013.

In the April- November period this year, the traffic registered a 19.4% growth. During this, the total number of passengers flown by all domestic airlines combined was 609.43 lakh as against 558 lakh passengers flown during the same period last year.

In November, Gurgaon-headquartered airline IndiGo was nearing the two-million passenger mark as it flew 19.60 lakh passengers. This was followed by Jet Airways with 10.81, state-run carrier Air India carried 10.27 lakh passengers during that period, a PTI report said.

On the other hand, ailing carrier SpiceJet secured the fourth position as it flew 8.76 lakh passengers, while Mumbai-based GoAir flew 5.29 lakh passengers during the month under review, the leading news agency added.

Looking at the new entrants, we get to see that AirAsia India and Air Costa, an Indian regional airline based in Vijaywada also flown 0.60 and 0.61 lakh passengers in November.
