"Destiny," the popular sci-fi shooter from the makers of "Halo," just got a new lead writer.

On Sunday, several Bungie employees mentioned Chris Schlerf, the lead writer on "Halo 4," had left Bioware where he was working on the next "Mass Effect" game so he could join Bungie.

Indeed, on Schlerf's Twitter profile, he lists himself as the "lead writer [at] Bungie working on 'Destiny.'"

While Schlerf's departure from Bioware could mean trouble for the 2016 release of "Mass Effect: Andromeda" - several other prominent directors have left the team in recent weeks - his arrival at Bungie is good news for "Destiny" fans.

Of all the issues in "Destiny," story and dialogue has been the biggest. Back when the game launched in September 2014, "Destiny" had no coherent story fans could understand, and that led to meager reviews, despite the game's addicting gameplay. Since then, each "Destiny" expansion has added more focus on storytelling.

In 2016, Bungie has an ambitious schedule for "Destiny." The company plans to release a major update in the coming weeks, a "large new expansion" coming later this year, and a full game sequel coming in 2017. We're guessing Schlerf will focus his efforts on the full game release of "Destiny 2."

We've reached out to Bungie for comment, and we'll update this story if we hear back.
