Demonetisation: More relief for farmers, Railways waives-off service charge. Here are today’s 10 new developments

The Indian government spelled out more relief for farmers, keeping the current rabi season in focus. Announcing more measures to ease the current situation on demonetisation, Economic Affairs Secretary Shantikanta Das said the expectation is to move more and more people to digital transactions.

Focusing on the rural sector, Das said a slew of measures were being taken, especially for farmers so that they do not feel the cash crunch in the rabi crop season.

Moreover, he announced few waivers to ensure seamless transactions. Meanwhile, the opposition continued to protest against the demonetisation, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in the parliament.
