Delta Unveils A 'Shower' That Supposedly Cures Jet Lag

Mar 4, 2013, 22:53 IST

DeltaWe thought Delta was hard at work adding plenty of those Economy Comfort seats as well as WiFi on each and every flight, but apparently they also have a little extra time to work on some other projects.

They’re actually trying to solve the problem of jet lag, and they just showed off some of their most recent ideas at the Technology, Entertainment and Design—TED—conference out in Long Beach, California.

This stuff might be a little bit above our pay grade when it comes to understanding the science behind things, but basically what Delta has created is some kind of light shower. Photon light rains down upon you, and then like magic you’re cured from any and all jetlag—at least in theory.

So it might not be an instant fix and a little more complicated than our explanation, but the Wieden and Kennedy New York designed idea puts plenty of neuroscience research findings into practice. The jet lag shower does its best to mimic natural sunlight, and as a result you kind of feel a little bit better. It tries its very best to kind of reset your internal clock as quickly as possible, and that gives you more time to hit those important business meetings or tourist attractions.

For now it's pretty much just an idea on paper along with one prototype, so don't expect to see this in the arrivals lounge anytime soon; however, we'd certainly like to give it a spin for ourselves when—and if—it hits the airport.
