Delhi’s Law Minister Jitendra Singh Tomar was arrested today for faking his Law degree.
The leader was arrested from his house and taken to Hauz Khas police station for further questioning. This came after an FIR was filed against him last night.
According to media reports Singh has been charged under several criminal cases including IPC Sections 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery with purpose of cheating).
A police team had previously travelled to Bihar to probe the charges against the Minister.
The arrest comes amidst the struggle between
AAP leader Sanjay Singh has accused the Modi government of using "pressure tactics" against the State administration.
"The concerned university has filed its reply in the court. It also recorded the statement that the degrees are genuine. Then why was he arrested?” he said.
"The Lt Governor, Delhi Police Commissioner and the Modi government are trying to scare us with such tactics. But we are not going to be scared. Our fight against corruption will continue," Singh said.
