From the outside, the World Famous I-Bar at Naval Station North Island in California might be unassuming, but decades of Navy aviation history hangs inside, from a Vietnam-era Distinguished Flying Cross to detailed model planes strung from the ceiling and squadron patches in every available space.

This summer, a fictionalized version of the I-Bar is slated to play a part in the Top Gun sequel. Insider spoke with an I-Bar regular and Vietnam veteran, a former TOPGUN instructor, and the commanding officer charged with remodeling the hallowed hangout about the real bar and its recreation on the big screen.
