Fox News host says dropping 'mother of all bombs' on ISIS is 'what freedom looks like'
A Fox News host on Friday morning said Friday that dropping a massive bomb on ISIS fighters in Afghanistan is "what freedom looks like."
The remark came after Fox began the segment of "Fox and Friends" with a clip of the 'mother of all bombs' being dropped set to the music of Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue."
The US Air Force on Thursday dropped a 21,000 pound GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb, the first time it was used in combat. The strike reportedly killed 36 ISIS fighters.
DoD Photo On the Fox morning show, the hosts could barely contain their enthusiasm for the strike in the Afghan War, which is the longest in American history. The near 16-year-old conflict was rarely addressed in the 2016 presidential race, and the topic came up only once during Defense Secretary Jim Mattis' confirmation hearing. The war in Afghanistan has been largely forgotten by the American public. Roughly 42% of Americans agreed that it was "a mistake" to send forces to Afghanistan after 9/11, according to a 2015 Gallup poll.
"One of my favorite things in the 16 years I've been here at Fox News is watching bombs drop on bad guys," said Geraldo Rivera.
