The first official trailer of
Bombay Velvet, starring
Ranbir Kapoor and
Anushka Sharma was released early this morning. Marking the mainstream debut of filmmaker
Karan Johar in a negative role, the movie has been produced by
Fox Star Studios and
Phantom Films, and has been directed by Anurag Kahsyap.
The movie is set in the 1960s
Bombay, with Kapoor playing a boxer
Johnny Balraj who wants to be a ‘big shot’ and Sharma playing the role of Rosie, a singer he falls in love with. Johar can be seen as Khambata, a man in suave suits and serious looks, who reminds of the super-rich mafias of Bombay who can kill for fun.
Based on Mumbai Fables, a book written by historian
Gyan Prakash, the screenplay has been penned down by Anurag Kashyap,Vasan Bala and Thani. The movie is slated to release on May 15th.
