Sam Bankman-Fried said a citizen vigilante was stopped by security guards stationed outside his parent's house.

Bankman-Fried told Teddy Schleifer, a reporter from Puck, that some people claimed they wanted to come to the house and make a citizen's arrest.

"I don't get it. I've already been arrested," he said.

Schleifer said two security guards were at the house during the in-person interview and had let him through the barricades that block off the street.

Bankman-Fried is staying with his Stanford law professor parents, Barbara Fried and Joseph Bankman, in their California home.

Bankman-Fried was released on $250 million bail on December 22, shortly after arriving back in the US. As part of his bail terms, he is required to stay at his parent's house while he awaits trial. Bankman-Fried has pleaded not guilty to eight counts of fraud and conspiracy charges.

Bankman-Fried had previously spent ten days in Fox Hill Prison in the Bahamas. He told Schleifer he wasn't ready to publically process his thoughts about his time in the prison, which is notorious for its harsh conditions.

Representatives for Bankman-Fried did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment made outside of normal working hours.

Bankman-Fried also described himself as being isolated from many of his former colleagues and friends. He told Schleifer he had not spoken to his ex-girlfriend, Caroline Ellison, or FTX co-founder Gary Wang.

"I don't blame people for wanting to try and avoid getting drawn into the shitshow as best they can," he said.
