It's not Elon Musk, Jason Derulo or Matt Bellamy — Snoop Dogg claims he's the NFT influencer CozomoMedici
Dec 28, 2021, 12:15 IST
- The world famous rapper Snoop Dogg is claiming to be the mysterious identity behind an influential account around non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on Twitter called CozomoMedici.
- If the claim is true, the rapper has helped R&B artist Jason Derulo enter the NFT space.
- The claim has indirectly been corroborated by the CozomoMedici account but no evidence has been offered up as definitive proof.

It’s not Elon Musk, Jason Deluro or Matt Bellamy ‘from Muse’ — in a tweet less than 24 hours ago, rapper Snoop Dogg has assumed responsibility for being the mysterious celebrity entity behind the popular Twitter account on non-fungible tokens (NFTs) called CozomoMedici.
The rapper, whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus Junior, isn’t a stranger to NFTs having launched a few of his own in the past. However, taking credit for an account that has considerable influence in the world of NFTs is a whole other story. And, to add another layer of drama, nobody really knows for sure if he’s just joking around or is genuinely serious.

On the same day, the account also ran a poll, inviting people to guess who runs it. Of the four options, Matt Bellamy of the band Muse got the most votes. The other three options were Elon Musk, Jason Derulo and Keyboard Monkey — even actor George Clooney — but no mention of Snoop Dogg was ever made.
That poll ended today and the account tweeted that they would reveal their true identity from their personal account. This was followed by Snoop Dogg’s tweet, not five minutes later, proclaiming that he is CozomoMedici.
This was then corroborated by the CozomoMedici account, who has promised 1 Ether (ETH), currently valued at over $3,000, to one random person who finds Snoop Dogg’s proclamation tweet and shares it.

Other signs that point to Snoop Dogg being CozomoDedici
On September 10, R&B artist Jason Derulo “joined the CryptoPunks gang” and thanked the CozomoMedici account for helping him do so in a tweet. Was Derulo saying Snoop Dogg helped him get into the NFT space, or was he thanking his own account — since one of the poll options was his name.
It’s also worth noting that the owner of the CozomoMedici has an account on top NFT platform OpenSea as well. This account has about 100 NFTs and some of these are priced at over a million dollars. It would take a pretty rich person to hold such an account, which is suggestive but not definitive.
As things stand, there’s still no definitive proof of whether Snoop Dogg really is the person behind the CozomoMedici account. And, it does not seem likely that more evidence is likely to surface other than the stories offered by both accounts.
