ORIGINAL: Heads up! Minutes away from the release of the Conference Board's monthly consumer confidence report, due out at 10 AM ET.

Economists predict the report's headline index moderated to 79.0 in August from 80.3 in July.

"We would put some emphasis on the consumer confidence number," says Citi strategist Steven Englander. "It is unclear whether today a strong number can outweigh the focus on Syria ... it may take a big upside surprise, say new high north of 82.1. For Fed it would be a strong indication that underlying momentum is there."
