It seems the Congress party is in no mood to let the parliament function as it continued its protest against suspension of 25 of its MPs for third consecutive day.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had suspended 25 Congress MPs for “wilfully obstructing the business of the House.”
Wearing black bands on their sleeves, Congress party members, including its enigmatic president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi, has been protesting ever since near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at the Parliament complex.
Today, Rahul Gandhi said the voice of the opposition is "being suppressed in Parliament.”
The Congress members continued to criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his inaction against the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and BJP chief ministers Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan for their involvement in the Lalit Modi controversy and Vyapam recruitment scam.
Slogan shouting members said they would continue their protest against the suspension of their colleagues.
Meanwhile, Janata Dal-United and Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders also joined Congress in the protest and urged the Lok Sabha speaker to revoke the suspension of the Congress MPs.
