Sep 26, 2014, 09:15 IST
To Launch Mumbai Flights From Low-cost carrier AirAsia India, which launched air services in June, plans to introduce a flight from Mumbai, according to the group chief executive Tony Fernandes.
"In Incredible India, Bombay is changing by the day. AirAsia India will be starting in this metro soon. We are coming,'' tweeted Fernandes tweeted.
The remark was greeted both by excitement and surprise. Last year, Fernandes had announced that owing to high airport charges in Mumbai and Delhi, AirAsia will skip these two destinations.
Currently, the airline operates flights to Goa, Chennai, Kochi, Jaipur and Chandigarh from its hub Bangalore.
In a bid to compete with other airlines in the air-fare war, AirAsia recently announced a discounted ticket scheme to woo passengers. The airlines offered flyers an all inclusive one-way ticket price of Rs 690 from Bangalore to Chennai, Kochi, Goa; and Rs 2,390 from Bangalore to Jaipur and Chandigarh.
