CHART: Peyton Manning Is 37 And Having The Best Year Of His Career
In his first four games, Peyton Manning has thrown 16 touchdowns, no interceptions, and has averaged 368 yards per game. Not bad for a quarterback, who at 37-years-old, should have peaked 5-7 years ago.
The chart below is a look at the Manning's career Adjusted Yards gained per Attempt (AY/A), which is one of the best ways to judge how well a quarterback is throwing the ball. AY/A is a lot like the popular Yards per Attempt, but penalizes the quarterback for throwing interceptions.
What is amazing about Manning, is that outside of his historic 2004 season, when he threw a then-record 49 touchdown passes, Manning's career has looked very similar, if not slightly better, than several other all-time great quarterbacks. But while the other quarterbacks either remained steady or declined late in their career, Manning has just gotten better. Certainly bad weather in Denver will slow this pace down, but at this point, Manning is playing the best football of his career...
