CNN Money sat down with Munger, Warren Buffett's right-hand man, at the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting in Omaha over the weekend.
The interviewer asked Munger about the Baltimore riots, the LA riots (he is from Los Angeles) and whether he thinks riots are caused by income inequality.
He largely sidestepped the income inequality part of the question, but did share some thoughts on riots in general.
"Some of the people who are complaining... it's legitimate protest, others are just people who want to burn or shoplift or something. It's all mixed up, and everybody hates it."
But, he said, "you've got to remember: a hundred years ago it was way worse."
"You had the Ku Klux Klan. We had all kinds of lynchings. Things have greatly improved. It's just that we are not nearly perfect."
