Popular cars such as Alto to Elite i20, there’s going to be an uptick in prices.
For instance, a car priced at Rs 6 lakh would see its price go up from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000.
Due to the price hike, automakers are offering discounts fearing slump in sales.
As per an ET report, most companies have agreed to provide financial support to dealers during the transition. The effort is to liquidate as much inventory as possible before July 1.
But, post GST, diesel cars will be worst affected as their prices will go up by more than Rs 21,000.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire is priced at Rs 7,76,000 ex-showroom New Delhi. Post GST, the same car will be priced at around Rs 7,97,300, an increase of more than Rs 21,000.
