These are the sectors hiring the most apprentices in the upcoming months in India

Positive sentiment across sectors

The latest National Employability through Apprenticeship Program report by TeamLease Skills University reveals that 10 sectors out of 18 in India are showing a positive outlook towards hiring more apprentices from Jan-June 2022 than the last 6 months.

Sectors hiring maximum apprentices

In the engineering sector, 82 percent of employers are keen on hiring apprentices topping the list, followed by employers in automobiles and ancillaries (74 percent) and employers in retail (70 percent).

Sectors hiring least apprentices

Travel and hospitality at 24 percent to hire the least number of apprentices, followed by electrical and electronics (25 percent) and beauty and wellness (27 percent).

Chennai may become the hub of apprenticeship

Among the list of metro cities, Chennai has the highest NAO at 75 percent, followed by Delhi (70 percent) and Bengaluru (62 percent).

Ahmedabad tops the chart among non-metros

Ahmedabad has the highest NAO at 72 percent in the list of non-metro cities, followed by Kochi (50 percent) and Lucknow (47 percent).

Top three skills

The report says that technical knowledge, willingness to learn, and remote/hybrid work are the three most important skills employers are looking for while selecting apprentices.
