- Career site Comparably released its annual ranking of the 25 best companies for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) employees.
- Non-white workers took an anonymous, in-house survey that inquired about pay equity, support from leadership, and company culture.
- Major companies featured on the list include Microsoft, Apple, Chipotle, and Adobe.
Corporate America is experiencing an awakening right now.
Companies are promising new diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) targets. They're pulling ads from Facebook in protest over the tech giant's handling of hate messages. They're donating more to nonprofits helping marginalized communities. While DEI experts say there's much more work to be done, there has been notable shift in tone coming from leaders in recent weeks.
But DEI isn't a new concept. In fact, each year for the past several, career site Comparably has tracked which company leaders do the best job of supporting their non-white employees. So which companies have been leading the pack over the past year?
Comparably surveyed some 60,000 non-Caucasian employees across large companies (over 500 employees) and small-to-mid-sized companies asking them to anonymously rate their CEO on issues like company culture, leadership, and support for BIPOC employees. The survey was open from June 30, 2019 to June 30, 2020.
It should be noted that the list of CEOs is largely white, and male, pointing to America's lack of diversity in the C-suite.
