Ecommerce and IT jobs will give you the biggest salary hikes this year

AON India’s Annual Salary Increase report projects that...

...Indian employees may enjoy a 9.9 percent (pc) increase in salary this year.

9.3 percent salary hike in 2021

The latest projection is an increase of 6 basis points compared to last year.

India pips China

Compared with other countries like the United States (3.6 pc), United Kingdom (3 pc), China (6 pc), Japan (2.9 pc), employees in India may get the highest percentage of salary hike this year.

Good news

According to the AON survey, all 21 sectors in India are expected to give salary hikes this year.

Sectors giving maximum hike

The ecommerce segment (at 12.4 pc) is expected to give the highest increase, followed by information technology (11.6 pc) and professional services (10.9 pc).

Sectors giving the least hike

As few sectors are still recovering from the COVID-19 jitters, the metals and mining segment may give the least hike this year at 8.3 percent, followed by quick service restaurants (8.5 pc) and the cement industry (8.6 pc).

The survey further reveals that 45 percent of the companies in India

may give a pay hike between 8-10 percent this year…

… And 32.3 percent companies may give more than 10 percent hike this year to their employees.

Only 27.5 percent companies in India gave hikes of more than 10 percent last year...

...and 38.6 percent of them gave between 8-10 percent.
