But what if we told you, that an Amazon employee claims to get paid around over USD 370K (Rs 3 crore approx) a year to do absolutely nothing?
According to a post on anonymous platform Blind, an Amazon employee admitted that they are getting paid around Rs 3 crore to do nothing. The employee added that this was all part of a plan and that they had joined the company with the sole intention of doing nothing and be put on a PIP (performance improvement plan).
The employee, who has been with Amazon for a year and a half, shared his story with a surprising level of transparency. They revealed that after being laid off from Google, they joined Amazon with a deliberate intention to do as little work as possible while still drawing a significant paycheck. The strategy, the employee claims, involved performing the bare minimum necessary to avoid raising any red flags with his managers.
"I joined Amazon 1.5 years ago after being laid off from Google," the employee wrote on Blind. "My goal was simple: do nothing, collect a salary, and eventually get placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP)," he confessed.
According to the post, during the emplpyee's tenure at Amazon, they completed just seven support tickets and created a single automated dashboard. The employee also admitted that the dashboard, which they claimed took three months to develop, was actually created in just three days using ChatGPT.
The confession, which has since gone viral, has sparked a wave of reactions across social media. A screenshot of the post, shared on X by a user named Anpaure, quickly gained traction, prompting a heated debate among netizens.
