The consulting industry has taken a hit because of the health crisis. The pandemic shrunk the size of the consulting market from $160 billion to $130 billion in 2020 due to decreased client demand, according to research platform Statista. Firms around the world are halting client operations and even cancelling big projects, the Statista report noted.
But some bigger firms like McKinsey & Company and Bain are still hiring. Consultancies known for their expertise in healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors are looking to expand, and financial advisories such as PwC and KPMG have slowed down recruitment efforts, but are still looking for talent. Turnaround consulting, in particular, is set to experience a boom because of rising demand for corporate restructuring in the coming years.
