"The new models in the UV segment have created a lot of excitement in the market. Also the sentiment is positive due to better rains and coming of the 7th Pay Commission. All these factors put together are responsible for the off take which is happening," SIAM Deputy Secretary General Sugato Sen was quoted saying.
Talking of the rise in overall PV sales, UVs remained the main driving force here, with a rise of 41.85% to reach 64,105 units, as compared to last July’s 45,191 units.
India’s biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has seen a rise in the sales of domestic cars by 2.21% in July to 93,634 units from 91,602 units a year ago. The sales of its UV jumped 151% and reached 17,382 units from 6,916 units.
Maruti Suzuki’s Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) also saw a rise in the number of cars by 12.15% in July 2016 as compared to July 2015. Talking of UVs, sales rose 15.93% from July last year.
