These 10 Indian colleges have produced India’s most funded startup owners

  • Here are the top 10 colleges whose alumni in the startup world have secured the most funding in the first half of 2020, according to data intelligence firm Tracxn.
  • Six IITs have made it to the top 10 list.
  • However, it must be noted that in the first six months of 2020, startup funding has fallen by 29% to $4.2 billion this year.
In India, there’s a long list of IIT and IIM graduates turned entrepreneurs, so much so that investors have often been inclined to bet on startups whose founders come from the top colleges. From Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal of Flipkart to Deepinder Goyal of Zomato and Sriharsha Majety of Swiggy, most of India's unicorn founders too come from these colleges.

But with stories of startup founders having built their initial ideas in their college dorms, the importance on how much a college appreciates and pushes for entrepreneurship has also increased. Almost every other engineering and management college now has an entrepreneurship cell that helps students.

Here are the top 10 colleges whose alumni in the startup world have secured the most funding in the first half of 2020, according to data intelligence firm Tracxn. However, in the first six months of 2020, startup funding has fallen by 29% – from $5.9 billion in 2019 to $4.2 billion this year.
