Indian hotel chain OYO Hotels & Homes is offering free stay to doctors and healthcare providers in the US. Ivanka Trump, the senior advisor to the US President Donald Trump, announced the news on Twitter. She wrote, “These kinds of impactful acts of benevolence are what help keep this Nation and our world #TogetherApart.”
"All of us at OYO are grateful for the bravery and sacrifices all the medical personnel are making to save lives and stop the spread of Covid-19. To all the medical personnel fighting this disease on the front lines, we welcome you and we can't be grateful enough.," said Ritesh Agarwal, founder and CEO, OYO Hotels & Homes.
In the wake of coronavirus spread, healthcare professionals globally are putting in immense amount of hours and hard work, while also putting their lives at risk. Through this initiative first responders will get free accommodation at OYO hotels in the US.
"OYO's offer shows what America is all about. If we come together and help each other, show kindness and determination, there isn't a challenge we won't overcome. This is a great idea that will help physicians and other health care providers on the front lines during this unprecedented crisis, and I hope others will join them," said Robert Seligson, CEO, North Carolina Medical Society.

Earlier, Agarwal offered OYO rooms to be set up as quarantine centres in India. With the Coronavirus pandemic and stark increase in the number of positive cases in the country, the government is looking to set up more and more quarantine centres.
Agarwal replied to a Twitter suggestion to convert OYO rooms into quarantine centres and said he would be open to implementing the same across cities.
OYO entered the US market earlier in 2019. By the end of 2019, the company had over 280 hotels across 39 states. As a part of its US expansion, OYO had also opened a 35,000 square-foot casino in Las Vegas called OYO Hotel & Casino. The property, which was earlier a Hooters Hotel, has 657 rooms across nineteen floors.
