OYO is looking to hire over 300 engineers in the next 6 months to clear ‘path to profitability’

OYO claims to be headed for the “path to profitability” by doubling down on its tech and product teams. The hotel and hospitality firm is looking to hire over 300 technology professionals — including software developers, engineers and product managers, designers, data scientists across entry-level to senior leadership positions — in the next six months.

Dinesh Ramamurthi, chief human resources officer, OYO, said, “Over the past year and a half, we’ve been doubling down on our technology and pioneered several industry-first innovations to enhance customer experiences and maximise revenues for SMEs [small and medium enterprises] of hotels and homes [sector]. As an organisation that is deeply committed to solving problems with technology, inducting top tech talent is a key priority for us.”

Gurugram-based OYO is looking to hire full-stack teams with key skill sets and expertise in the area of machine learning, data engineering and information security, Android and iOS developers.

“The expanded design, product and engineering teams will be responsible to build long-term capabilities for OYO from scratch and update the current tech stack,” OYO said, in a press note.

OYO claims to have a tech stack of over 50 products and over 500 micro-services, including consumers’ and partners’ apps such as OYO, OYO OS, CO-OYO. The company also has several applications led by artificial intelligence, machine learning (ML) and analytics such as a dynamic pricing app called Tariff Manager, OTA (online travel agents) performance management, Discover OYO, personalised recommendations, Yo! Chatbot and more.

The company claims that the Yo! Chatbot solves 85% of the consumer queries and complaints. Meanwhile, its ML-based pricing algorithm does upto 60 million “micro-optimisations” per day.

The company claims that the recent hiring would help the company accelerate to a global full-stack provider for small and mid-sized hotels and homes. It further adds that its improved app ecosystem provides a two-fold increase in revenue for new partners that join OYO’s network.
