On New Year’s eve, hundreds of people will head out to popular joints across cities to ring in 2020. And it’s only after midnight that they will look for ways to get home safe.

Ride hailing unicorn Ola has set up safety scouts deployed to help people who are either stuck or in danger. Trained male and female personnel will be out on the streets even after midnight, with designated Ola cabs and double as quick response teams.

“New Year’s Eve sees a large number of people going out for the night to celebrate, and through these efforts, we are encouraging people to take a safe ride back home. We are proud to assist the efforts of the on-ground police forces and together, help citizens and consumers feel secure,” said Arun Srinivas, chief sales & marketing officer, Ola.

In Delhi - NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata - Ola’s safety scouts will be available to answer SOS calls.

It is a part of the company’s recent initiative – Ola Guardian. The artificial intelligence-led feature tracks a ride for any irregularities and alerts are sent directly to Ola’s safety response team.
