Ola asks the man who sued the company to remove all negative posts against it, while another 65-year-old customer 'severely injured’

Ola Electric has asked Balwant Singh, a customer who has accused the scooter maker of his son’s accident, to remove all negative posts against the company in the next 24 hours. The company has also asked Singh to refrain from making any “defamatory posts” against Ola Electric on social media.

This came as a response to the legal notice sent by Singh to Ola Electric.

Singh’s son met with an accident while riding Ola Electric’s S1 Pro in Guwahati in April 2022. Singh alleged that the accident was caused due to fault in regenerative braking, which increased the spread of the scooter instead of slowing it down on a speed breaker.

Ola alleged that the accident was a result of overspeeding and backed their claims with the user’s telemetry data on social media. Singh, in response, sent a legal notice to the company for publishing his scooter’s telemetry data in public.

Singh isn’t the only one who has raised concerns over Ola Electric scooter’s technology. Last month, an Ola Electric S1 Pro owner in Tamil Nadu set his scooter on fire reportedly due to inadequate performance and erratic range of the electric scooter.

Earlier today (May 12), a Jodhpur man flagged a software bug in Ola Electric after his 65-year-old father suffered a severe head injury in an accident while parking his scooter in his house. He alleged that the bug is causing Ola Electric bikes to go in reverse mode at full speed.

“He was only taking the scooter from outside the house to park inside. He has banged his head on a wall with almost the skull open (with 10 stitches now) and broken his left arm which would have to be operated with 2 plates inserted.” Pallav Maheshwari wrote in a LinkedIn post.

There have been multiple issues raised against Ola Electric. So much so that the company was forced to recall 1,441 of its scooters for inspections and run another set of diagnostics tests on battery, thermal, and safety systems.

Business Insider has reached out to Ola Electric seeking further clarification on this issue.
