Deborah Hyun, Uber's director of performance marketing, left after more than four years to be VP of global marketing at meditation app Headspace.
Hyun oversaw social media, media strategy, and digital performance marketing for the embattled ride-hailing company, which had an underwhelming IPO in May and posted a $1.2 billion loss for the third quarter.
Hyun shared her job news on LinkedIn. An Uber spokesman confirmed the news to Business Insider, while Headspace had not responded at the time of publication.
Hyun's departure comes after Uber reorganized its marketing team this summer, laying off 400 employees from its global-marketing team across nearly a dozen countries in what employees described as a "bloodbath."
CEO Dara Khosrowshahi combined the company's marketing, communications, and policy teams under Hazelbaker after Uber COO Barney Harford and CMO Rebecca Messina left the company in June.
Uber also tapped the veteran Google exec Thomas Ranese in August as its new VP of global marketing to work alongside Mike Strickman, VP of performance marketing, who was hired from TripAdvisor in July. Hyun reported to Strickman.
Like a string of other marketers, Uber has taken some advertising in-house. The company handles its programmatic efforts and most performance and media-buying functions, including strategy and optimization, internally.
