IMF’s Gita Gopinath to Chanel’s Leena Nair: Indian women in global roles

Gita Gopinath – International Monetary Fund

Gita Gopinath is the First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She served as its chief economist between 2019-22. Prior to joining IMF, Gopinath had a two-decade long stint as an academic at Harvard University, as John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics.

Leena Nair – Chanel

Leena Nair took over as the Global CEO of French luxury fashion house Chanel in 2022. Before joining Chanel, Nair served as the chief human resources officer at Unilever, which has operations across 190 countries.

Divya Nettimi – Avala Global

Divya Nettimi is the founder and chief investment officer of Berlin-based Avala Global, and the first woman to head a $1 billion hedge fund. She was earlier a portfolio manager at Viking Global Investors, an associate at Goldman Sachs Investment Partners, and also managed Harvard University’s Alpha Fund.

Anjali Sud - Vimeo

Anjali Sud is the CEO of US-based Vimeo, an online video sharing platform. Prior to heading the company, Sud was Vimeo’s general manager and head of market. She also worked at Amazon, Time Warner; and was designated Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum in 2019.

Sharmistha Dubey is a director and former CEO of Match Group, a US-based company that owns and operates popular online dating services like Tinder, OkCupid, Hinge, Match.com, among others.

Revathi Advaithi – Flex

Revathi Advaithi is the CEO of Flex, a 53-year-old global manufacturing company based in the US and Singapore. She is also an independent director on the board of Uber, and worked in senior positions at Eaton and Honeywell.

Padmasree Warrior is the founder and CEO of the Silicon Valley-based Fable, a social network for book lovers. Prior to Fable, Warrior served as the chief technology officer of Cisco, and Motorola. She also serves on the board of directors of Microsoft and Spotify.
