ITC ’s state-of-the-art perfume facility in Himachal Pradesh will produce an additional 1,25,000 litres ofSavlon sanitizers .- Because of the
coronavirus pandemic, there is a huge demand forsanitizers in the market as health experts have asked people to wash hands regularly and sanitize too. - ITC earlier announced that it has set up a ₹150 crore contingency fund to fight the pandemic.
“ITC repurposed its recently commissioned perfume manufacturing facility in Manpura, Himachal Pradesh to manufacture Savlon Hand Sanitizers. This initiative reinforces our efforts to enable enhanced production and supply of Savlon range of hygiene products in the market which is the need of the hour,” said Sameer Satpathy, chief executive of personal care products at ITC.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, people have become conscious about hygiene. A precaution is to keep your hands clean by washing them regularly as well as sanitizing them. As the number of cases in India grew, people began to hoard on sanitizers and soon their availability in the market decreased.
ITC also reduced the price of the sanitizer bottle.
Meanwhile, the Indian business conglomerate also announced that it has set up a ₹150 crore contingency fund to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
“This fund will be utilised primarily to provide relief to the vulnerable and most needy sections of society who have been harshly impacted by the pandemic and have faced significant disruption in their livelihoods,” said the company’s official statement.
The company will also work with district authorities in various states to make way for assistance in a healthcare ecosystem which will reach out to the weaker sections of the society. The fund will also be available for the people in the frontline of the pandemic by providing them with protective personal gear and hygiene products.
With the supply chain of essential services including groceries and medicines having been hit – ITC will work with state authorities and local administration to ensure that manufacturing and distribution activities continue uninterrupted with bare minimum people.
