HPE opens IoT customer experience centre in Bengaluru

New Delhi, Jan 10 () Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) on Friday announced the launch of a customer experience centre (CEC) in Bengaluru to offer IoT solutions to customers and partners from across industries.

The CEC is part of the USD 500 million investment into India announced by HPE in July last year.

Built on a 20,000 sq ft area, the centre will provide customers globally with access to IoT technologies to develop sophisticated solutions across agriculture, automotive, healthcare, intelligent manufacturing, security, smart cities, smart grid and smart transportation, a statement said.

"IoT is already enabling a wide range of critical services across areas including healthcare, smart cities, and transportation...This facility will help our customers and partners harness the benefits of edge computing, which is increasingly moving computational tasks to where the data is being generated," HPE India MD Som Satsangi said.

* * MarQ by Flipkart launches laptops

After consumer durables, Flipkart's private brand 'MarQ by Flipkart' has forayed into computing space with the launch of Intel-powered laptops.

The 'Falkon Aerbook' series of laptops will be priced Rs 39,990 onwards and will be available on Flipkart from January 17, a statement said.

"...MarQ by Flipkart is branching out to laptops to address the gaps between customer desires and current offerings," it added.

Flipkart said after analysing millions of customer reviews and studying the market, it recognised consumer demand for sleeker and light form factors.

"This reflects the current demand trends based on advancements in processor and battery technologies. With this market shift in mind, MarQ by Flipkart, together with Intel and Microsoft, are looking to address this segment, keeping in mind the requirements of today's users," the statement said.

* * Snapdeal to add 5,000 manufacturer-sellers in 2020

E-commerce marketplace Snapdeal on Friday said it plans to add 5,000 manufacturer-sellers on its platform this year.

"In the last one year, many manufacturers of daily use products like steel and copper utensils, kitchen gadgets like juicers and atta dough makers and fashion accessories like watches and wallets have started to sell online directly on Snapdeal, bypassing the traditional structure of selling through wholesalers and retailers," a statement said.

The fast growth of the online market, especially in the non-metro centres, is allowing these manufacturers to tap a new set of always-connected customers, which traditional retail structures cannot capture, it added.

"Snapdeal plans to add another 5000 such manufacturer-sellers on its platform over the next 12 months. It expects most of these manufacturers to join from India's production hubs like Meerut, Ludhiana, Tirupur, Jaipur, Panipat, Surat, Rajkot etc," it said. SR RVK
