While there aren’t any women on the list of the top 10 richest people in the world, there’s no denying some women have been making huge fortunes all over the world. The number of women billionaires is on the rise. Here is an account of the top 10 richest women in the world, according to Forbes’ Real Time Billionaires List, as of April 28, 2023.

1. Francoise Bettencourt Meyers


With her net worth estimated at $94.9 billion, Francoise Bettencourt is the wealthiest woman on earth. Her family owns 33% of L’Oreal stock which reported phenomenal growth over the past decade. She has been on the board of the company since 1997 and today she is the chairperson of this makeup firm. Bettencourt Meyers occupies the 9th position among the richest persons in the world.

2. Alice Walton


The second slot on the top 10 richest women of the world is claimed by Alice Walton, the only daughter of Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart. Her net worth is $61.3 billion. She is more focused on curating art and she has a personal art collection that is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. She holds the 20th position among the billionaires this year.

3. Julia Koch & Family


With a net worth of $59 billion, she is a new addition to the list this year. Julia Koch made it to the billionaire list at the third spot after she and her three children inherited a 42% stake in Koch Industries from her husband, David, who died in August 2019 at age 79. Originally from Iowa, Koch moved to New York in the 1980s. She has worked as an assistant to fashion designer Adolfo.

4. Jacqueline Mars


With a net worth of $38.3 billion, Jacqueline Mars is the fourth wealthiest woman in the world. She owns an estimated one-third of the world's largest candy maker, Mars, which was founded by her grandfather. She worked for the company for nearly 20 years and served on the board until 2016.

5. Miriam Adelson


American physician and billionaire, Miriam Adelson has a net worth of $37.7 billion. Having funded Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign in 2016, she has been a primary donor in conservative political causes in both America and Palestine.

6. Mackenzie Scott


Award-winning author and the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Mackenzie Scott made it to the billionaires list 2023 with a net worth of $29.5 billion. She was married to Jeff Bezos for 25 years and they divorced in mid 2019. As part of the divorce settlement, Jeff transferred 25% of his Amazon stake to MacKenzie, which was 4% of the company.

7 Gina Rinehart


With a net worth of $26.9 billion, Gina is the Executive Chairman of Hancock Prospecting, a privately-owned mineral exploration and extraction company. Rinehart is Australia’s richest person and her wealth reached around A$29 billion in 2012. An Economics dropout from the University of Sydney, Rineheart is listed in Forbes’ 100 most powerful women in the world.

8. Susanne Klatten


Owning 19.2% of the automotive giant BMW, Susanne Klatten is the eighth richest woman in the world. She is the sole owner and deputy chairman of Atlanta, a prominent pharmaceutical and chemical company. Her net worth is $24.6 billion.

9. Iris Fontbona & family


Fontbona and her children control Antofagasta Plc, which owns copper mines in Chile and trades on the London Stock Exchange. She also holds a majority stake in Quiñenco, a publicly-traded Chilean conglomerate active in banking, beer and manufacturing. Her current net worth stands at $22.8 billion.

10. Abigail Johnson

The tenth richest woman on earth Abigail Johnson is a businesswoman and the president of American investment firm Fidelity Investments. Having graduated from Harvard Business School, Johnson now has a net worth of $21.6 billion.
