Jubilant Foodworks' net profit declines 74% YoY but revenue rises in first quarter

Jubilant Foodworks Ltd (JFL), which operates fast-food chains Domino's Pizza and Dunkin' Donuts, on Tuesday reported a 74% decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 28.91 crore in the June 2023 quarter. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 112.58 crore in the April-June quarter previous fiscal, Jubilant Foodworks Ltd (JFL) said in a regulatory filing.
The company opened 30 new stores in India, resulting in a network of 1,891 stores across all brands.
Its revenue from operations during the quarter was Rs 1,334.54 crore against Rs 1,255.09 crore in the year-ago period, an increase of 6.3%. it added.
JFL's total expenses during the quarter stood at Rs 1,248.74 crore.
"Our strategy of customer first and technology forward has started to yield positive results. ADS for mature stores grew by 2.7% sequentially, decline in ticket size was arrested, app-installs, loyalty enrolments reached a new peak, and we executed efficiently to expand EBITDA margin by 97 bps versus the previous quarter," said Sameer Khetarpal, CEO and MD, Jubilant FoodWorks.
The growth was driven by Domino’s Delivery channel sales which increased by 8.4%. Domino's Like-for-Like (LFL) growth came in at -1.3%, the company said in a release.
Shares of Jubilant Foodworks closed at Rs 476 on BSE, up 2.03%, after Tuesday's trade.
