Hurun Global 500 report for 2021 is out

Hurun Global 500, published by Hurun Research Institute, is a list of 500 most valuable non-state-owned companies in the world ranked according to their value.

Apple continues to lead

Global tech giant Apple continues to be the most valued company in the world, with a 15 percent increase in its market capitalisation. The company has a market cap of $2.4 trillion.

Microsoft, Amazon and Google come next

Bill Gates’ Microsoft is the second most valued company with a market cap of $2.1 trillion. It is followed by Amazon with a $1.8 trillion market cap and Sunder Pichai-led Alphabet, parent company of Google, with a market cap of $1.7 trillion.

India is home to 12 of top 500 companies

The USA is home to 243 of the top 500 companies in the world. It is followed by China with 47, Japan with 30 and the UK with 24 such companies.

India gets three new entries

Wipro, Asian Paints and HCL Technologies are among the new entrants to the top 500 ranking from India.

Reliance leads Indian enterprises | Global Rank: 57

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries is the most valued Indian company, with a market cap of $188 billion. The company was positioned at 57 in the overall ranking.

Tata Consultancy Services | Global Rank: 74

Tata Consultancy Services or TCS founded itself on the 74th rank of the top valued companies in the world. It was the second highest valued Indian company with a market cap of $164 billion.

HDFC Bank | Global Rank: 124

Indian banking and financial services company HDFC Bank was positioned at the 124th rank in the Hurun Global 500 list. It was the third most valued Indian entity with a valuation of $113 billion.

Infosys | Global Rank: 163

Indian multinational information technology (IT) company Infosys reported a market cap of $88.5 billion and is currently at rank 163.

ICICI Bank | Global Rank: 268

Another banking and financial services company ICICI has made it to the list at the 268th position. The company has a market cap of $62 billion.

HDFC | Global Rank: 301

HDFC, which has subsidiaries like HDFC Bank, HDFC pension, HDFC Insurance and more, was positioned as the sixth most valued entity in India and was ranked 301 in the globe with a valuation of $56.7 billion.

Kotak Mahindra Bank | Global Rank: 380

Kotak Mahindra Bank dropped down 96 positions as its valuation dipped 8% to $46.6 billion.

Bajaj Finance | Global Rank: 381

While Kotak took a nosedive, Bajaj Finance aggressively rose 59 ranks to rank 381 between 2020 and 2021. The company is valued at $46.5 billion.

IT company Wipro, at a valuation or market cap of $39.9 billion, was the latest addition to the Hurun Global 500. The company is ranked at the 461 position.

Bharti Airtel | Global Rank: 462

Telecom company Bharti Airtel, rival to Reliance Industries, also made it to the list at the 462nd position at a valuation of $39.6 billion.

Asian Paints | Global Rank: 477

Asian Paints was another new entrant to the Hurun Global 500 list with a valuation or market cap of $38.4 billion. It was ranked at 477.

HCL Technologies | Global Rank: 498

HCL, with its market cap of $36.6 billion, is the 12th biggest enterprise in India in terms of value. The company has a global rank of 498.
