Flipkart has entered into a partnership with the Adani Group to strengthen its supply chain infrastructure and enhance its capabilities to serve its growing customer base.

The highlight of the partnership with Adani Logistics is the 5.34 lakh square feet fulfillment centre that will be set up in Mumbai – making it the latest logistics hub of the company. The fulfilment centre will be constructed by Adani Logistics and will be leased by Flipkart.

"I am delighted to see two of India's fastest-growing businesses come together to help build some of the most critical as well as state-of-the-art infrastructure that our nation needs,” Karan Adani, chief executive officer (CEO) of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), said in a stock exchange filing.

In addition to this, the facility will also create 2,500 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs, according to the statement. Flipkart will also develop its third data centre at the Chennai-based AdaniConnecX facility to strengthen its e-commerce business. The AdaniConnecX facility is a joint venture between EdgeConneX and Adani Enterprises Limited.

The fulfilment centre is expected to be operational in the third quarter of financial year 2022 and is expected to have the capacity to house 10 million units of sellers’ inventory.

A fulfillment centre is a third-party logistics warehouse where the company receives orders, processes them and finally, fulfills them.

"The Adani Group is unmatched in the way it has gone about building infrastructure across India. What it brought to us was a unique combination of logistics, real estate, green energy, and data centre infrastructure capabilities,” Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO of Flipkart Group, said in the statement.
