Upcoming new SUVs in India 2023

The year of 2022 saw the launch of many SUVs. Crossovers and sub-compact SUVs were the most favoured vehicles among Indian buyers during the year. In order to mark a strong presence in the SUV segment, many car manufacturers are expected to add new SUVs to their portfolio in 2023. Most of them could be from brands like Jeep, MG, and more.

Here’s a rundown of all the upcoming SUVs in India in 2023.

Jeep Avenger


Jeep is likely to launch the Avenger SUV in India sometime in March 2023. The car could pack a 1.2-litre petrol engine from Citroen C3. The Jeep Avenger will compete with Brezza, Magnite, Sonet, Nexon and more.

The Avenger is expected to be priced anywhere between ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Harrier / Safari facelift


Tata’s Harrier and Safari could also get facelift variants. The facelift variants could have a new design exterior, a bigger touchscreen, ADAS and a 360- degree camera. Like Hyundai, Tata could unveil both of these cars at Auto Expo 2023.

Nissan X-Trail


Nissan’s X-Trail is known for its aggressive design and a slew of features. There is no word on the launch date, but this model could be showcased at the Auto Expo 2023.

Honda HR-V


This five-seater SUV is expected to launch in India by mid-2023. The car will lock horns with Hyundai Creta, Maruti Brezza and Kia Seltos.

MG Hector Facelift


Reportedly, MG Hector Facelift is expected to launch by January 2023. The car will carry the same 1.5-litre petrol motor, 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain, and 2.0-litre diesel engine. The facelift Hector could have a price tag of ₹25-27 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace


The updated version of Tiguan, Allspace is expected to launch in January 2023. It will borrow the same design elements and the same engine of the Volkswagen Tiguan 2022.

Force Gurkha (5 door)


Spy shots suggest that the new Force Gurkha- 5 door is likely to make its debut in India. The SUV shares the same imprints as the existing Gurkha. It is expected to run on the same 2.6- litre turbo diesel engine.

Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus


The Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus could be the larger version of the present Bolero Neo, offering more space and extra room in the cabin. The car is expected to offer 7-9 seating options. Further, it is expected that the Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus will use the same engine option and same powertrain as the Thar.

Toyota Fortuner Next-Gen


The Toyota Fortuner is one of the best-selling SUVs in India. The brand will soon be launching the next-gen Fortuner in the market next year by mid-2023. It will offer all-new design elements and updated powertrain options.
