India has lately seen a drastic shift towards electric vehicles (EV), with improving infrastructure and consumers’ consciousness towards the environment-friendly choice.
The growth has been slow over the past few years, with a limited number of models launched — from TVS iQube to Hero Photon 48V. But the year ahead holds a lot of promise.
Indian automakers are betting big on the EV segment. Not just the top brands like Suzuki or Hero Electric, but a whole host of ‘made in India’ companies and startups are gearing up to launch their two-wheelers in the EV market.
Here’s a quick look at the top electric bikes launches expected in 2021:
Suzuki Burgman Electric scooter

The Suzuki Burgman Electric scooter was recently spied testing near Gurugram indicating that the launch is near. The company is likely to launch it sometime in the first half of 2021 and will be priced around ₹1.2-1.3 lakh.
If the company manages to launch the new electric scooter by next year, it could become the first Japanese brand in India to launch an electric product.
Tork T6X
Tork T6X
The T6X electric bike Tork is likely to be launched by June 2021. The bike may cost around ₹1.5 lakh and is powered by a lithium-ion battery that is capable of going upto 100 km per charge.
The Tork T6X can hit a top speed of up to 100 km/h and be charged up to 80% in one hour.
Ultraviolette F77
Ultraviolette F77
The Ultraviolette F77, which was expected to launch in October this year, got pushed to mid-2021. The TVS Motor-backed electric bike startup based in Bengaluru, Ultraviolette Automotive, is the manufacturer of the bike.
The Ultraviolette F77 bike is likely to be priced at ₹3-3.5 lakh; and can offer 130-140 km on a single charge.
Okinawa Oki100
First showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, Okinawa’s electric motorcycle Oki100 has been in the works for nearly three years now.
The electric bike promises to offer up to 150-km range and 100-120 km/h top speed. It is likely to be priced less than ₹1 lakh.
Maestro Electric

Hero may launch its Maestro electric sometime in mid-2021. The bike, first showcased as a concept at the 2020 Hero World, is expected to be priced ₹1 lakh.
The scooter is powered by a lithium-ion battery and is expected to offer performance equivalent to a 110cc petrol-powered scooter.
Evolet Hawk
Evolet Hawk
The Evolet Hawk showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 is expected to launch in February 2021.
The bike is expected to have a range of 150km on a single charge and the charging time is around 5 hours. The Evolet Hawk will be priced at ₹1-1.15 lakh.
Hero Electric AE-29
Hero
Along with Maestro Electric, Hero also has Hero Electric AE-29 on its cards. The bike is expected to be priced around ₹85,000 and is likely to hit Indian roads by March 2021.
The electric bike will be powered by a lithium-ion battery capable of offering a range of 80km on a single charge. One must also note that the Hero Electric AE-29 can be fully charged within 4 hours.
