Auto Expo 2020: Volkswagen showcases four cars, Skoda Karoq announced

Volkswagen today showcased four new cars at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018 in Greater Noida. Its subsidiary, Skoda also showcased the Karoq, a midsize SUV. Auto makers such as MG, Mahindra and Kia have also unveiled their vehicles at the auto show.

Volkswagen introduced three cars – Taigun, T-Roc and the Tiguan Allspace. The company also revealed the ID. Crozz EV concept. Of the four cars unveiled, the Tiguan Allspace and T-Roc are scheduled to be introduced in the first half of 2020.

Upcoming cars in India

Volkswagen Taigun

The Volkswagen Taigun is the first car from the company that has been built on the MQB A0 IN platform. It will be powered by the company’s TSI technology combined with a DSG gearbox. Safety features on the car include 6 airbags, anti-lock braking system and electronic stability control.

The Volkswagen Taigun will be powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The car will have a top speed of 183 kmph and will be able to go 0-100 kmph in 9.9 seconds.

Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace

The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is a bigger 7-seater version of the Tiguan which is already available in India and is 109mm longer than the current model. It is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and offers 4 motion all-wheel drive.

The Tiguan Allspace is expected to be priced around ₹35-₹40 lakh. Safety features on the car include seven airbags, ABS, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system and a reverse parking camera.

Volkswagen T-Roc

The Volkswagen T-Roc is built on the company’s flexible MQB platform. It is powered by a 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine combined with a 7-speed DSG transmission. It puts out 150PS of power and 200Nm of peak torque.

The Volkswagen T-Roc features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and an in-car connectivity suite. The safety features include ABS, EBD and a rear parking camera.

Volkswagen ID. Crozz EV concept

The ID. Crozz EV is an electric concept car that is cross between a SUV and a Coupe. It is powered by twin electric motors and comes with the company’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive tech. The electric motors develop a combined output of 306PS/320Nm and can provide a top speed of 180 kmph.

The car can reportedly do 500 km on a single charge. It features the company’s CleanAir system and the company claims you will be breathing clean air in a car. You can also use voice commands to deactivate the autopilot and open and close doors. This car is expected to be announced in 2021.

Skoda Karoq

The Skoda Karoq is a midsize SUV and is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2020. It is based on the same platform as the T-Roc. It will be equipped with a 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, that can develop 150hp and 250Nm of torque.
