Ather introduces the 450S electric scooter in India – here’s everything you need to know

Ather Energy has announced its new electric scooter, the Ather 450S in India. In addition to launching the 450S, the company has also revamped its 450X scooter, which now comes with a new switchgear design.The Ather 450S features an identical design to the 450X and comes with some downgrades to make it relatively pocket friendly.
Ather 450S price and colour options
The Ather 450S comes in two variants – the base variant which has been priced at ₹1,29,999 and the Pro Pack variant which costs an additional ₹14,000.
It is available in four colour options – Cosmic Black, Salt Green, Space Grey and Still White. The True Red and Lunar Grey colour options are limited to the Ather 450X.

Ather 450S specifications
The Ather 450S comes with the new 7-inch DeepView LCD display which can be controlled using the switchgear. Unlike the 450X, the 450S does not feature a touchscreen.
The 450S comes with a 2.9kWh battery with a certified range of 115 km per charge. It offers a top-speed of 90 km per hour and goes 0 to 40 km per hour in 3.9 seconds.
While the Ather 450X offers full-screen navigation with Google Maps, the 450S is limited to turn-by-turn navigation. The company has said that the electric scooter comes with over 18 directional possibilities, meaning it can navigate even during an 8-way roundabout.

In addition to the new switchgear, the 450S also comes with a dedicated button for park assist.Ather has also added new features such as FallSafe, which can detect when the user falls off the scooter using sensors to detect changes in the position of the scooter. If a fall is detected, it cuts off power to the motor.
The company has also added an emergency stop signal feature, wherein the rear lights blink to inform other users about an emergency stop.
Coasting regen is another feature that has been added with the Ather 450S. As part of this, the scooter recovers energy when you let go of the throttle as the scooter starts to slow down.
If you are planning on getting the scooter, you should keep in mind that the Ather 450S comes with a 350W charger which takes 8 hours and 36 minutes to charge the scooter from 0 to 100%.
