Ather 450S electric scooter price cut only five months after launch

Ather Energy has announced a price cut of ₹20,000 for its affordable electric scooter, the Ather 450S just five months after it was launched in India. This comes amid a slowdown in sales and soon after Ather reported a near 30% month-on-month decline in sales in December 2023.

The Ather 450S electric scooter which was launched with a price tag of ₹1,29,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru) is now available for ₹1,09,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The Pro Pack and the battery protection plan which was earlier priced at ₹14,000 is now available for ₹10,000.

Ather 450S specifications

The Ather 450S comes with a 7-inch DeepView LCD display which can be controlled using the switchgear. Unlike the 450X, the 450S does not feature a touchscreen.

The 450S is equipped with a 2.9kWh battery pack with a certified range of 115 km per charge and a claimed range of 90 km in eco mode. It offers a top-speed of 90 km per hour and goes 0 to 40 km per hour in 3.9 seconds.

The Ather 450S comes with a 350W charger which takes 8 hours and 36 minutes to charge the scooter from 0 to 100%.

While the Ather 450X offers full-screen navigation with Google Maps, the 450S is limited to turn-by-turn navigation. The company has said that the electric scooter comes with over 18 directional possibilities, meaning it can navigate even during an 8-way roundabout.

The Ather 450S comes with the FallSafe feature, which can detect when the user falls off the scooter using sensors to detect changes in the position of the scooter. If a fall is detected, it cuts off power to the motor. It also comes with an emergency stop signal feature, wherein the rear lights blink to inform other users about an emergency stop.

The Ather 450S now competes with the Ola S1 X+, which is priced at ₹89,999.
