Are you a passionate Javascript engineer, comfortable with architecting and leading large scale projects on a growing team with goals such as building the best, first class CMS in the world? Do you have an active Github or strong web presence? Do frameworks such as Angular, React, and VueJS excite you? Would you like to work on projects that reach over 60 million users every month? If yes this is the opportunity for you! Business Insider is looking for mid to senior level self starter to spearhead our front-end projects.

Business Insider is growing at a great pace with publishing platforms in many continents and the most popular business news site in America. In addition to Business Insider, we run INSIDER, http://thisisinsider.com, and BI Intelligence, a premium subscription service for industry professionals. With a global family of sites across Europe and Asia, we are quickly closing in on a billion page views per month.

The role is located in our Flatiron office in New York City, but we'll be calling FiDi home by the end of 2017. You will report directly to managers who understand technology and even write code. The front-end team has many opportunities for a motivated engineer to have a huge impact, and be recognized for it.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Development of one page applications using Node, Angular, Bower, Grunt, Karma, etc. and ensure concepts are delivered accordingly.
  • Work with vendor platforms and advertising networks.
  • Build high performance applications on Business Insider sites across multiple regions.
  • Work adaptively and responsively between desktop and mobile experiences.
  • Evolve the user experience in the form of smart implementations for user interactions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Front end development experience using JavaScript, HTML, AJAX, JSON, and CSS/Sass.
  • Detail-oriented and have a passion for writing clean, testable, well-documented code.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for innovative development trends and technologies.
  • Understanding of unit testing frameworks such as Jasmine or Mocha.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and their application in JavaScript.

BONUSES

  • Expert understanding of Angular.
  • Comfortable working with PHP.
  • Experience with Twitter Bootstrap.
  • Building applications from the ground up with a keen eye on performance (mobile / desktop) and scalability.
  • Experienced with additional JavaScript MVC frameworks like Backbone, VueJS, React, CanJS, or Ember.js.
  • Community involvement and contributions to open source projects.
  • A strong Github / web presence.
  • Experience with back-end technologies such as PHP, MongoDB, Memcached, Symfony, Solr/Lucene, Doctrine.
