The Finance Minister ignored two vital areas in his big budget announcement

Presenting the Budget 2016-17, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley emphasised on several sectors such as rural, agriculture, social and roads.
Even though many sectors were covered and ambitious plans and outlays were proposed, Jaitley did miss out on few sectors that also contribute in India’s GDP immensely.
Tourism is one of the main sectors that’s been fuelling the Indian economy in a positive direction.
Last year, the finance minister increased the allocation in the tourism sector and announced a slew of new initiatives to increase domestic and foreign travellers, such as revamping heritage sites, improving sanitation and cleanliness at holy sites, and setting up centres for adventure activities.
But this time, he did not announce anything for the sector. Experts were hoping some allocation for strengthening travel infrastructure and safety measures.
The other area he largely ignored manufacturing. There was no mention about pharmaceuticals, FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods), heavy industries or defence.
It was expected that Jaitley will up the allocation in defence by 9% to Rs 2.68 lakh crore.
The steel sector was hopeful too. The Indian steel sector is a major contributor to India’s manufacturing output, and it’s even more important now because of PM Modi’s Make in India campaign.
