BSNL launches Wi-Fi zone in Puri, will invest Rs 830 Crores in Odisha

BSNL is looking to invest Rs 830 Crores for improving services in Odisha and half of that will be dedicated to its broadband network in the current financial year, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said today.While inaugurating the Wi-Fi hotspot zone created by BSNL at Lord Jagannath Temple, Prasad said, "During the current financial year a project outlay of Rs 830 crore has been earmarked for BSNL Odisha for various projects including the Rs 400 crores earmarked for NOFN (National Optical Fibre Network)."
The current launch is part of the government’s plans to provide Wi-Fi services at historical sites. The company will provide free 100mbps Wi-Fi service for 30 minutes every 24 hours, limited to three times in a month, which visitors can use in multiple sessions.
