Brad Pitt reportedly under investigation for allegations of child abuse after a drunken plane incident

Brad Pitt is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and the LA. County Department of Children and Family Services following a report from TMZ on Thursday that he was allegedly "verbally abusive and physical with his children."

The celebrity news site is reporting that the alleged incident, which its sources say occurred during a trip on the family private jet when Pitt was intoxicated, was what prompted Angelina Jolie to file for divorce on Tuesday.

Jolie is currently seeking sole custody of the couple's children.

People has also confirmed the investigation. Business Insider has reached out to both the LAPD and LA County Department of Children and Family Services to confirm.
