We have seen and heard numerous headphones that claim to cancel outside noise completely. But most of these are duds and do not deliver what they claim. Recently, Bose came up with the same claims and we gave its new headphones a test to find out if those claims are true. Known as Quite Comfort 20, these noise-cancelling headphones look very similar to Bose IE 2 ear phones. But what it does better than any other in-ear headset on the block is to cancel ambient noises and keep all the thuds, thumps and clunks out. When turned on, all you get is pure resonance at an exquisite frequency. All the user needs to do is switch the small button on the remote (located on the wire) to the on-mode. Just do that and all the surrounding noise goes away in a jiffy. But that does not mean you will miss any important information. Just turn on the ‘aware’ feature on the remote and you will not miss any of the announcements sitting at the airport or the car horns while crossing the road.
The clarity of the headphones is above excellent. The low and high notes are very clear and one can enjoy the music for hours. For various ear cavity types, Bose has included three types of silicon tips in the box that can be easily replaced on the ear piece. These ear marvels weight just 44 gm, making them light to wear and extremely portable. We give it thumbs up, but this technology does come with a stocky price tag of Rs 22,388.
