4G to be Bharti Airtel’s focus this fiscal year with plans to spend an additional $200-400 million in capex for India for the same, its top official told ET.

The country's No. 1 telco has estimated its capex for India and South Asia to be at $2.3 billion, most of which would have been on India.

Speaking at the company's investor call post second quarter earnings announcement, Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO, India & South Asia said that the company could have "pushed 4G by 12-13 months".

He expects that of the 20 million handsets to be shipped this quarter, 10 million will be 4G enabled.

"The data growth will depend upon the price of devices and content. Genuine problem solving application will drive data growth and mobile internet usage in the country, something which the Indian start-up ecosystem is passionately engaged in," Vittal said.

He admitted to "marginal pressure on voice" not only because of small but bigger players as well, saying the competitive intensity in voice remains "unabated".

He expects the execution of the American Depository Receipts by early 2016.
