Bank of America Merrill Lynch just promoted nearly 140 employees to managing director - we got a leaked list of all the names
- Bank of America Merrill Lynch announced its 2018 managing director promotions for global banking and markets this week.
- Nearly 140 employees earned the MD distinction, the highest title at the firm.
- Unlike some Wall Street firms, BAML's list is closely guarded and typically only published internally.
- Business Insider got a hold of the full list of names in banking and markets.
Some Wall Street banks display their highest promotions for all the world to see, while other firms keep them closely guarded and for internal eyes only.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch falls into the latter camp.
The bank internally announced its 2018 promotions to managing director - the highest title at the firm - for global banking and global markets on Tuesday afternoon, according to sources.
Business Insider got its hands on the full list, which this year includes 67 MD promotions in banking and 71 in markets - just shy of 140 in all.
It's not clear how this year's MD class compares with past years, given that BAML, which has roughly 205,000 employees around the world, doesn't publicly announce the names.
But Morgan Stanley promoted 153 to MD in January - up from the 140 it promoted in 2017. At Goldman Sachs, where MD is one rung below the prestigious role of partner and the classes are announced every two years, 509 employees were promoted to MD in 2017 and 69 were promoted to partner earlier this month.
