Not dressed appropriately

If you are working in a law firm, and end up wearing a pair of jeans with a T-shirt, you may come across as someone not too serious about your job. Dress appropriately for office for two reasons - it uplifts your day and makes people take you seriously.

Chit-chatting with colleagues

We all love our comfort zones. Whenever you enter a new setting, your eyes always hunt for people you feel comfortable with. It's a good thing if you are getting well along with your colleagues but make sure you don't spend most of your time chit-chatting. For bosses, this is extremely unprofessional.

Knocking at your boss's door too often

Several bosses may give you enough space to ask them as many questions as you want for more clarity. But, let's face it, knocking at their door every five minutes to ask any question and try to give a feeling that you want to learn, may end up backfiring. They are a busy lot, so only knock when you are really stuck with something.

Not being seen on your desk

Yes, bosses should see the quality of work you are doing and not make a fuss about you're never on your seat. But they do. Plain and simple. They do! So, avoid loitering around or slipping away to talk on your phone in the first few days of your new job.

Checking out the opposite gender

This can leave the worst impression of you not just on your boss, but also your colleagues. If you're busy staring at someone in office, when others are busy working, you may land in trouble soon.
