Apple Mac Pro

Business Insider/Lisa Eadicicco

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference keynote was rife with details about its new Mac Pro, the $6,000 pro-grade powerhouse of a computer that's getting updated for the first time since 2013. One key detail Apple left out, however, is exactly when it will be available to buy.

But Apple may have unintentionally provided a hint about the timing for new Mac Pro's launch on its website. A dialog box that appeared on Apple's website when clicking a link to register for more information about the Mac Pro referred to the product as "Coming September," as blog 9to5Mac first noticed. The prompt currently says "Coming This Fall," and Apple's press materials announcing the product only say that it is coming in the fall.

Apple has not immediately responded to Business Insider's request for comment.

It wouldn't be surprising to see Apple release the Mac Pro in September. The company typically holds an event in September during which it debuts its new iPhones and a new Apple Watch. As such, it's likely that we'll hear some announcements about other products too - such as the Mac Pro and Apple's recently announced TV and gaming services.

The new Mac Pro starts at $6,000 and represents a complete redesign compared to its predecessor. Unlike the older version, which was criticized because of how difficult it was to customize, the new model is modular and designed to be modified to accommodate the user's needs.

It runs on Intel's Xeon processors - which can be scaled up to a 28-core configuration - and offers support for Radeon Pro Vega II graphics. The Mac Pro also works with Apple's new Afterburner accelerator, which enables video editors to edit raw footage from the camera rather than working with proxies. Apple is also selling a $5,000 display called the Pro Display XDR to go along with the Mac Pro, and a $1,000 adjustable stand.
