In iOS 12, the stocks app will receive a few upgrades.

  • In iOS 12, the Stocks app on iPhone is getting a facelift.
  • Every stock will get a shiny new chart, showing its performance over the day, as well as a list of relevant articles curated by Apple News articles.
  • The iPad app will also be updated, taking advantage of the device's large screen.

The Stocks app is getting a fresh redesign in the upcoming release of iOS 12, Apple announced at its annual WWDC 2018 conference today.

With so-called sparklines showing the ups and downs of a stock throughout the day, and relevant business news integrated throughout the app, Apple is trying to make it easier for users to stay informed.

The revamped homepage will show stocks and these sparkline charts, with news headlines curated by Apple News editors in the lower half of the screen. Clicking on the headlines will open the full story, without taking the user out of the app.

Clicking on a certain stock will open a more in-depth analysis of the stocks performance, including after-hours pricing - something missing from the current version.

Also, the Stocks app has been redesigned for iPad, with a large "Top Stories" section featuring business news, and stock prices on the left side of the screen.
